L3Harris is seeking a Composite Manufacturing Technician to join our state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) North in Huntsville, AL. This facility specializes in the inert fabrication and assembly of large composite rocket motor hardware.
What the work involves
Produce parts, components, and final assemblies using composite fabrication, compression molding, metal fabrication, modification, checkout, rework, quality testing, and assembly, following detailed work instructions, schematics, diagrams, layouts, and manufacturing or diagnostic equipment. Prepare components for lay-up, filament winding, cure, and post-cure using cured and uncured rubber materials and adhesives. Operate a variety of machinery and shop equipment, which may include ovens, autoclaves, manual and CNC lathes, CNC milling centers, manual mills, boring mills, presses, furnaces, mixers, grinders, swages, paint booths, fume hoods, and overhead cranes. Fabricate and assemble piece parts into completed sub-assemblies using standard assembly tools. Perform vacuum bagging and related processes for the fabrication and curing of composite parts. Execute structural bonding operations using film adhesives, core materials, and adhesives. Build complex layups independently and in small teams. Build, clean, and properly store large tooling.
