About Clear Path for Veterans: Operation Socrates

Clear Path for Veterans is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Chittenango, NY. Its Operation Socrates program creates pathways for active-duty service members and veterans transitioning into careers in K–12 education. The program provides free mentorship and guidance to candidates pursuing roles as K–12 teachers across all subjects, school principals, guidance counselors, and university professors.

Operation Socrates supports SkillBridge interns by placing them with K–12 school districts and universities that are actively seeking to hire veterans. Internships are conducted in person. The program spans 26 locations across 20 states and the District of Columbia, with a footprint that includes Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Beyond the internship placement itself, Operation Socrates connects candidates with a range of partner education and certification programs to help them meet state licensure requirements and move into the classroom. Clear Path for Veterans operates additional programs in areas such as peer and family support, canine assistance, culinary training, and wellness and enrichment, situating Operation Socrates within a broader organization focused on veteran transition and well-being.
