Military skills translator
Pick your branch, enter your MOS, rate, or AFSC, and see what the work is called on the outside. You also get the SkillBridge programs that name your code, which is the part every other translator leaves out.
Free, like everything else here. Why that's true.

What the O*NET military crosswalk says your code maps to
The Department of Labor maintains O*NET, the occupational database that most of the federal job tooling is built on. Its military crosswalk links each service's occupation codes to civilian occupations, using what O*NET describes as a combination of statistical modeling and task analysis. When you run a code above, the list you get back is that crosswalk, rendered in O*NET's own words and O*NET's own order.
What we add is the second half. A list of occupation titles tells you what to call the work. It does not tell you where to go next. So the same lookup also searches our directory of 4,763 SkillBridge programs two ways: programs that name your code directly in their own targeting, and programs that work in the occupations the crosswalk returned. Each result says which of the two it was, in words, so you can weigh it.
A crosswalk is a starting point, not an equivalence. It says the work overlaps. It does not say an employer will read your code as a credential, and it does not clear a license or certification the civilian role requires. Treat the list as directions worth checking, not as a claim about what you are already qualified to do.
Common questions
What is a military skills translator?
It is a tool that takes a military occupation code and shows the civilian jobs that involve similar work. This one reads the O*NET military crosswalk, which is published by the U.S. Department of Labor, and then does one thing the others do not: it also shows you the SkillBridge programs in our directory that name your code or work in those occupations.
What is the O*NET military crosswalk?
O*NET is the Department of Labor's occupational database. Its military crosswalk links each service's occupation codes to civilian occupations, using a combination of statistical modeling and task analysis. This page shows those links as O*NET publishes them, in O*NET's own order, with no rewording on our side.
Is my MOS the same as a civilian job?
No, and it is worth being blunt about that. A crosswalk is a starting point, not an equivalence. It says the work overlaps, not that an employer will treat your code as a credential, and not that you can skip a license or certification the civilian role requires. Read the list as a set of directions worth looking into, then check what each one actually asks for.
Why does my code return nothing?
Usually because the code retired or was renumbered, and the crosswalk has not caught up. Try the code you held most recently, or a related one. If the occupation service is down instead, the page says so in those words rather than showing you an empty list, because those are different problems and you should not have to guess which one you hit.
Which codes does this cover?
The dictionary behind the branch box carries 8,365 codes across all six branches, from the Department of Labor's bulk crosswalk files. The lookup itself is not limited to that list: a code the dictionary does not carry is still sent to the live crosswalk, which may well answer.
What does it cost?
Nothing, and there is no account. We are paid by nobody on this page: placement in the program results is never for sale, and no employer can buy their way into your list.

Where this comes from
Civilian occupations come from O*NET Web Services, published by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, and are shown exactly as that service returns them. The code dictionary comes from the same department's bulk crosswalk files. SkillBridge program data comes from the public Department of Defense SkillBridge directory, which we republish without screening, ranking, or endorsing any organization.
Nothing you enter here is stored against you. The lookup sends a branch and an occupation code, and there is no free-text field on this page at all.
