What these labels mean

MOU active: An MOU is the agreement between an employer and the SkillBridge program. When it expires, the employer has to renew it before it can take new service members.
MOU expires soon: The agreement ends within 90 days. That is not a reason to rule a program out. It is a reason to ask the employer where the renewal stands.
MOU expired: The date on the government listing has passed. We still show the program, because hiding it would shrink this directory in a way we could not explain. Confirm status with the employer before you apply.
MOU date not stated: The government listing carries no expiration date for this organization.
Detailed listing: The employer filled in most of its record: length, delivery method, eligibility, and a description of the work.
Partial listing: Some of those fields are filled in and some are blank.
Sparse listing: Very little of the record is filled in. That is common, and it is not a judgment about the program or the employer. It does mean you will have to ask them more questions directly.

Interns will receive a combination of hands on, classroom style and computer-based training which will enable them to manage the WM operations, while ensuring safe work practices, environmental compliance, timely maintenance, compliance with contracts, and coordination with the landfill management and operations. This role acts as an area owner and is available whenever necessary to meet the objectives of the role and the needs of the facility. Compressors, and H2S removal systems, Nitrogen Removal Unit, and Pressure Swing Absorber. (Note: The objective of the program is to provide full time employment to all interns who meet training objectives and receive positive performance appraisals. However, an offer of full-time employment is not guaranteed.)

Eligibility

Skills, Requirements, & Qualifications Required: • High School Diploma or GED (accredited) required. • 5 years of relevant work experience in a plant operations or plant maintenance environment required. • Administrative Services DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State required. • Basic knowledge of 120/240/480 3ph volt AC circuits. • Must be able to diagnose and repair DC circuits 12/24 volts. • Must be strong with basic computer skills used to communicate, document, and change operations settings for plant performance optimization. • Must be familiar with basic principles of building maintenance. • Must be able to work as a team and communicate effectively across different business units. • Must be able to understand complex processes and action-based thinking. • Must Be able to wear/operate assigned PPE and follow WM and WM Renewable Energy safety protocols and procedures. • Must be able to successfully manage fiduciary responsibilities. • Must be able to lift a minimum of 100 lbs. • Must be able to travel up to 15% with overnight stays. • Must be able to demonstrate industry communication skills. What the work involves

Operations Manager Key Responsibilities • Capture data and evaluate courses of action for optimized plant performance, while operating within identified budgets. • Address non-routine repairs or issues that may arise and require sound, immediate judgment without direct supervision. • Lead, manage, and coordinate all 3rd party vendors or customers for scheduled plant maintenance, unscheduled down time, compliance, and well-field issues. • Regularly communicate this with the Area Operations Manager and/or WMRE Operations Manager. • Procure plant supplies and replacement equipment in an efficient manner by identifying needs in advance, managing vendors, and working within WM guidelines as well as being responsible for the annual budget. • Promptly respond to callouts of plant shutdowns during non-business hours to identify the cause of the shutdown and rectify/diagnose through appropriate repairs or adjustments to return the plant to operation while consulting with WM operations managers (as needed). This role is given discretion to judge the situation and respond accordingly without management intervention, until needed. • Must be an engaged employee with the ability to organize and manage small to large scale plant outages and projects, with attention to detail of organizational and record keeping of all maintenance reports, gas data analysis and waste stream documentation. • Completes special assignments/tasks as required by WMRE Operations Manager, Market Area Gas Operations Manager, or Landfill District Manager.

But it wasn’t that long ago that the handling of trash was inconsistent and resulted in unsightly piles lining city streets and sidewalks. That started to change in 1893 when a Dutch immigrant named Harm Huizenga began collecting trash in Chicago for a small fee. With little more than a modest wagon, he built up a reliable client base over the years by effectively managing the waste of a rapidly changing society. But in the post-war period, something happened that most waste providers weren’t ready for: a shift toward disposable products that were designed to make lives simpler. In 1968, Harm's grandson Wayne Huizenga and two other investors, Dean Buntrock and Larry Beck, had a vision. They wanted to serve their community by properly managing the waste produced by a rapidly growing population consuming more and more products built for convenience. In the 1970s, Americans started to embrace a more environmentally friendly mindset. WM was already professionally and responsibly disposing of waste, and we expanded our commitment to the environment by beginning to address complex specialized waste. By 1982 WM had become the world’s largest waste disposal company, with more than $1 billion in sales. We were one of the first truly integrated waste companies, not only collecting waste but responsibly managing the landfills it ends up in. And we were also one of the first to recognize the burgeoning recycling movement, building robust collection, materials recovery, and materials marketing infrastructures to ensure that more of our waste finds a second life. The story of WM is written, but the story of tomorrow is ours to write. Innovative recycling technologies, renewable energy breakthroughs and social impact projects are some of the chapters we've written, and they're only the beginning.

Overview of the Program A Diesel Technician at WM is responsible for maintaining and repairing the company's fleet of vehicles and equipment, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. The purpose of this internship is to provide interns with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to transition from active military service to full time employment as a WM Diesel Technician. The incumbent for this position should expect to spend 90-120 days training on inspection and troubleshooting of diesel power plants, repair and routine maintenance of diesel engines and repair of diesel-powered vehicles. Interns will be expected to demonstrate technical proficiency while also adhering to WM standards of work and all associated safety protocols. Diesel Technician Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. Works under limited supervision and selects from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services. Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment. Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs. Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisitions new parts. Performs all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns. Conduct safety checks on vehicles. Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. Assists senior Mechanics in the completion of project work. Reviews, complete or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
