This program is designed for transitioning service members pursuing civilian Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced EMT, Paramedic, emergency transport, emergency department support, or related healthcare careers. Training assignments will be adjusted based on the participant’s current certification level, verified credentials, organizational authorization, supervision requirements, and applicable state or local scope-of-practice rules. Patient-facing, clinical, and operational activities will remain within approved training boundaries.

Eligibility

EMT: • Must be National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certified EMT at time of hire • North Dakota EMT registration submitted to North Dakota Department of Health Division of Emergency Medical Systems (DEMS) within 30 days of hire. • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire • Valid Driver’s License must be able to be insured to operate a motor vehicle Paramedic: • North Dakota Paramedic registration submitted to North Dakota Department of Health Division of Emergency Medical Systems (DEMS) within 30 days of hire. • Must be National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certified paramedic at time of hire • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required at time of hire • Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) preferred • Valid Driver’s License Must be able to be insured to operate a motor vehicle ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 within 30 days of hire.

What the work involves

The Trinity Health First Response Ground Ambulance EMT provides clinical support services by delivering basic emergency medical care, patient transport, and related patient care activities for individuals in prehospital, interfacility transport, and hospital-associated settings. In this role, the EMT performs patient assessments and appropriate interventions within the established EMT scope of practice, in accordance with Trinity Health policies, medical direction, and approved EMS protocols. As part of a collaborative EMS team, the EMT works closely with fellow responders, clinical partners, and support staff to ensure safe, timely, and coordinated care. The position contributes to a structured and professional response environment where teamwork, communication, and shared accountability support consistent patient care and positive clinical outcomes. The Paramedic provides clinical services by delivering advanced emergency medical assessment, treatment, and transport for patients in prehospital and interfacility settings. The Trinity Health General Registered Nurse Program is a 16-week transitional training opportunity designed for transitioning Service Members seeking experience in hospital and clinical healthcare environments. Participants will gain exposure in up to 5 nursing units through structured orientation, job shadowing, and supervised on-the-job training alongside our experienced healthcare professionals. Throughout the program, participants will develop knowledge in patient care workflows, interdisciplinary collaboration, clinical documentation, communication, and unit operations across a variety of care settings. The program is intentionally structured to allow participants to explore different nursing specialties while building professional relationships and gaining hands-on experience in a supportive learning environment. Participants will complete rotations in multiple units of interest, receive mentorship from nurse leaders/preceptors, and participate in regular performance feedback and professional development sessions. The final phase of the program focuses on advanced exposure, networking, career preparation, and transition support to assist participants in successfully moving from military service into a civilian healthcare career. This program is intended to enhance clinical readiness, strengthen professional skills, and provide valuable insight into nursing opportunities within Trinity Health while participants function in a supernumerary training capacity and do not replace scheduled staff.**Participants will function in a supernumerary (non-staffing) capacity, ensuring training does not replace scheduled personnel.

Eligibility

Must have active RN license for the state of ND, or unencumbered license that allows for work in ND, or have the ability to obtain one before the start of the program.

Eligibility

Participants then complete supervised new-hire style OJT, a midpoint check-in with career assistance, and advanced OJT with increasing independence. The final week includes a readiness assessment, application support, interview preparation, and transition planning. Participants gain exposure to laboratory safety, specimen workflow, quality control, documentation, communication, prioritization, and professional expectations in a healthcare laboratory setting. Training is conducted under appropriate supervision and in accordance with employer policy, SkillBridge requirements, laboratory safety standards, and applicable certification or licensure rules. Participants who successfully complete the program may be considered for open positions based on business needs, qualifications, licensure/certification status, and performance during the program.

Eligibility

Licenses and Certifications Required: • Possess or is eligible to receive laboratory certification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) or American Medical Technologists (AMT). • If certification is not held upon hire, it must be completed within 12 months of employment. • Evidence of ND State license or ND Provisional Permit. • Individuals hired with a Provisional Permit must obtain the full ND State License within 12 months of employment. Educational Requirements: • Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, or clinical laboratory technology. • Official diploma or transcript from the school/university from where Degree was received. Experience Requirements: • Clinical Internship required. • Previous experience working in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
