What these labels mean

MOU active: An MOU is the agreement between an employer and the SkillBridge program. When it expires, the employer has to renew it before it can take new service members.
MOU expires soon: The agreement ends within 90 days. That is not a reason to rule a program out. It is a reason to ask the employer where the renewal stands.
MOU expired: The date on the government listing has passed. We still show the program, because hiding it would shrink this directory in a way we could not explain. Confirm status with the employer before you apply.
MOU date not stated: The government listing carries no expiration date for this organization.
Detailed listing: The employer filled in most of its record: length, delivery method, eligibility, and a description of the work.
Partial listing: Some of those fields are filled in and some are blank.
Sparse listing: Very little of the record is filled in. That is common, and it is not a judgment about the program or the employer. It does mean you will have to ask them more questions directly.

Summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory’s (LANL) Radiation Protection Division provides the expertise, capabilities, services, support, and oversight necessary to enable the Laboratory’s programmatic missions while ensuring radiological work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable regulations and the LANL Radiation Protection Program. Through the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program, the Radiation Protection Division is seeking transitioning service members interested in applying their military training, technical skills, and experience to careers in radiation protection. Opportunities may include Radiological Control Technicians, Health Physicists, Dosimetrists, Radiological Engineers, Sampling Technicians, Calibration Technicians, and more.

Eligibility

Candidates with backgrounds in nuclear operations, radiation protection, CBRNE, health physics, engineering, electronics, instrumentation and controls, calibration, maintenance, technical operations, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

What the work involves

SkillBridge participants will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced professionals in a highly technical and mission-focused environment. Depending on the opportunity, participants may support radiological monitoring and controls, radiation protection instrumentation and calibration, dosimetry, radiological engineering, sampling and analysis, technical assessments, and other activities that help protect workers and support the safe execution of Laboratory operations.

Summary

We are looking for multiple Accelerator Operators to join us at Los Alamos National Laboratory with our Accelerator Operations Group. You will get experience and training in particle accelerator operations, conduct of operations and formality, applied engineering and physics principles, equipment troubleshooting, and procedural compliance. You will gain knowledge of the LANL and LANSCE mission.

What the work involves

Responsible for operating the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center's (LANSCE) proton accelerator. In this position, you will enable cutting edge science and vital defense research by operating one of the world's most powerful linear accelerators to deliver protons at up to 84% the speed of light to 5 different facilities. This research includes 1) production of isotopes for medical, nuclear physics, environmental, and national defense, 2) proton radiography for national defense, and 3) neutron production for nuclear physics studies, material science, studying fission processes, neutron radiography, and semiconductor irradiations. This position requires previous technical equipment operation experience and is an excellent entry point opportunity for accelerator operations.
