Join Safe Homes as an Public Relations intern, working in our Development Department. Safe Homes is one of 46 state-certified domestic violence centers in Georgia, we provide services to victims throughout the East Central Georgia region of Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Jefferson, Lincoln, Mc Duffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, and Wilkes counties. Our core services include: 24-Hour Crisis Hotline, 30-Day Emergency Shelter, Legal Advocacy, Support Groups. Counseling, Life Skills Classes, Parenting Classes, Residential Aftercare, Rural County Outreach, Youth Programs (Children and Teens), Community Education and Training.

What the work involves
Support the Development Director with various Safe Homes initiatives, including event planning and execution, creating graphic design materials, and managing social media content. Assist in drafting press releases, newsletters, and other communication materials to raise awareness of the shelter's mission and services. Coordinate outreach efforts with local media, community partners, and donors. Help with fundraising campaigns and donor relations, including maintaining communication with supporters. Conduct research to identify media trends, potential partners, and advocacy opportunities. Assist with the creation of educational materials related to domestic violence prevention and awareness. Provide support for any other tasks or projects as assigned by the supervisor.

What the work involves
Assist with answering agency crisis line, assessing the danger/safety of client, providing caller with emotional support, linking caller to appropriate resources and documenting case notes and services as appropriate. Assist with scheduling Outreach appointments, and intakes as necessary. Coordinate transportation for clients as needed and participate in all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
