About Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)
Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) is a federal government organization whose stated mission is to design, build, deliver, and maintain ships, submarines, and systems reliably, on time, and on cost for the United States Navy. The NAVSEA enterprise includes 10 warfare centers, over 30 headquarters directorates, affiliated Program Executive Offices, and numerous field activities. Interns are placed in working roles alongside experienced engineers, scientists, program managers, and logistics professionals at various Naval Surface Warfare Center commands and Naval Underwater Warfare Center commands. Depending on the assigned location and role, a SkillBridge participant may work as a construction project management intern, an additive manufacturing technician, a junior engineer supporting laser weapons or electronic warfare systems, a computer scientist contributing to weapon system software and cybersecurity, a physical scientist conducting modeling and simulation, or a logistics management specialist overhauling electronics inventory systems. Program durations range from 90 to 180 days depending on the role and the participant's separation timeline.
Participation in the program does not guarantee post-internship employment. All hiring decisions are subject to current federal hiring policies, available positions, and exemption eligibility under the Department of the Navy civilian hiring freeze.

What the work involves
