What these labels mean

MOU active: An MOU is the agreement between an employer and the SkillBridge program. When it expires, the employer has to renew it before it can take new service members.
MOU expires soon: The agreement ends within 90 days. That is not a reason to rule a program out. It is a reason to ask the employer where the renewal stands.
MOU expired: The date on the government listing has passed. We still show the program, because hiding it would shrink this directory in a way we could not explain. Confirm status with the employer before you apply.
MOU date not stated: The government listing carries no expiration date for this organization.
Detailed listing: The employer filled in most of its record: length, delivery method, eligibility, and a description of the work.
Partial listing: Some of those fields are filled in and some are blank.
Sparse listing: Very little of the record is filled in. That is common, and it is not a judgment about the program or the employer. It does mean you will have to ask them more questions directly.

Summary

Crown Maple, one of the nation's premier maple syrup producers, offers a unique hands-on opportunity to learn a complete agricultural production operation from the ground up. Over 22 weeks, participants work alongside experienced crew across every stage of the maple value chain — from managing a 40,000+ tap sugarbush to operating commercial-scale reverse osmosis and evaporator systems. This broad based program seeks to prepare participants for a career in agriculture, forestry, and food manufacturing, specifically in the growing maple syrup industry. No maple syrup or agriculture experience is required. The intent of the program is to train the participant for an entry-level maple operations position, with the goal of progressing toward the management of teams, systems, and eventually an entire sugarbush. The majority of training in this program will involve true on-the-job training, with some training provided directly by senior management at the company.

What the work involves

Maple Operations Technician (Entry Level)Supports all phases of maple syrup production from forest to evaporator. Responsibilities include installing, maintaining, and repairing tapline systems (mainlines, laterals, drops, and check-valve spouts); monitoring and optimizing vacuum levels across the tubing network; operating and maintaining sap collection infrastructure including pumps, tanks, and hauling equipment; performing reverse osmosis (RO) system operation, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting; assisting with evaporator operation including firing, draw-off monitoring, and syrup density checks; conducting seasonal woods work such as new line installation, leak detection, and end-of-season pullback; and performing routine equipment maintenance and facility upkeep in accordance with food safety standards. Position operates in outdoor and production environments across variable terrain and weather conditions, requiring physical fitness and a willingness to work extended hours during sap season (typically January - March). No prior maple experience required — structured training provided across all operational areas.
