What these labels mean

MOU active: An MOU is the agreement between an employer and the SkillBridge program. When it expires, the employer has to renew it before it can take new service members.
MOU expires soon: The agreement ends within 90 days. That is not a reason to rule a program out. It is a reason to ask the employer where the renewal stands.
MOU expired: The date on the government listing has passed. We still show the program, because hiding it would shrink this directory in a way we could not explain. Confirm status with the employer before you apply.
MOU date not stated: The government listing carries no expiration date for this organization.
Detailed listing: The employer filled in most of its record: length, delivery method, eligibility, and a description of the work.
Partial listing: Some of those fields are filled in and some are blank.
Sparse listing: Very little of the record is filled in. That is common, and it is not a judgment about the program or the employer. It does mean you will have to ask them more questions directly.

Summary

The Loudon High School NJROTC SkillBridge Internship is a professional transition program for retiring or separating service members to become certified Naval Science Instructors (NSI). The program bridges the gap between military leadership and secondary education by integrating Loudon County Schools' onboarding with Navy-mandated curriculum training. Participants will gain proficiency in unit administration, cadet mentorship, and classroom delivery to prepare for immediate employment upon military retirement.

Eligibility

Retirement Status: Must be within one year of an approved retirement date or retired for no more than six years. Education: SNSI roles require a Bachelor’s degree; NSI roles typically require an Associate’s degree or the commitment to earn one within five years of hire. Military Standards: Must meet Navy-mandated height, weight, and grooming standards and be physically qualified to conduct military drills and physical training.

What the work involves

Instructional Delivery: Plan and teach the multi-subject Naval Science curriculum, including military drill and physical training. Administrative Operations: Manage unit logistics using Navy systems such as CDMIS, PIEE, and WAWF, and oversee government-furnished equipment and uniforms. Cadet Mentorship: Provide academic and career counseling to cadets, including guidance on NROTC scholarships and Service Academy applications. Extracurricular Coordination: Organize and lead unit activities such as Color Guard, drill meets, marksmanship competitions, and field trips. Community Engagement: Conduct recruiting presentations at feeder schools and establish rapport with school faculty and local civic groups.
