What these labels mean

MOU active: An MOU is the agreement between an employer and the SkillBridge program. When it expires, the employer has to renew it before it can take new service members.
MOU expires soon: The agreement ends within 90 days. That is not a reason to rule a program out. It is a reason to ask the employer where the renewal stands.
MOU expired: The date on the government listing has passed. We still show the program, because hiding it would shrink this directory in a way we could not explain. Confirm status with the employer before you apply.
MOU date not stated: The government listing carries no expiration date for this organization.
Detailed listing: The employer filled in most of its record: length, delivery method, eligibility, and a description of the work.
Partial listing: Some of those fields are filled in and some are blank.
Sparse listing: Very little of the record is filled in. That is common, and it is not a judgment about the program or the employer. It does mean you will have to ask them more questions directly.

Summary

Service Members will be provided a unique opportunity to gain valuable insight and training that will enhance their knowledge, skills and abilities in preparation for a position as a police officer. Participants will be exposed to a variety of law enforcement administrative duties in addition to ride-along and citizen academy's as they advance through the selection process. As this is an intern position, no salary or benefits will be provided by the Department. Service Members will be assigned to Recruitment and Employment Division, 700 E. Temple Street, Los Angeles CA. 90012 and subsequently trained at one of the 21 geographic patrol divisions within the City of Los Angeles.

Eligibility

Four basic hiring requirements 20 yrs or older U.S Citizen or Eligible to work in the U.S, No Felony Convictions High School Diploma, GED or equivalent It is recommended that you start our SkillBridge application when your 10 months from your end of service but not required. Our program is available between 3-6 months from your end of service contract. You must have completed and passed the Los Angeles Police Departments multiple choice exam which can be taken online and the Personal History Statement to be approved in our program. Candidates will be able to waive the multiple-choice test if they satisfy any of the following conditions: They have successfully completed the California POST Regular Basic Course within the last three years; They possess a current Basic Course Waiver; They have taken the California P.O.S.T. Pellet-B test and earned an overall T-score of 42 or higher. NTN score is also accepted, contact the Public Safety Officer to submit this information

What the work involves

The Los Angeles Police Department is looking to fill the position of Police Officer. All candidates for the police officer position must complete and pass a seven-step hiring process. Those steps include a Multiple-Choice Exam, Personal History Statement, Physical Fitness Qualifier, Polygraph Examination, Department Interview, Medical Evaluation, Background Investigation and Psychological Evaluation. Upon successfully completing the seven-step selection process, each candidate will be certified for hire.
