JT4 SkillBridge Program - Programmer Internship About SkillBridgeJT4 is partnered with the U.S. Department of Defense's SkillBridge Program, which is designed to provide internship opportunities to transitioning military personnel during their final 6 months of service, thus preparing them for a full-time civilian position once they separate. Note: This opportunity is open to transitioning military members only. Non-service members will not be considered for this position.JT4's SkillBridge Programmer Internship is a unique 60-90 day opportunity for transitioning service members to obtain thorough OTJ (on the job) training from JT4's top technical SME's. During the internship, the service member will be provided a training plan outlining weekly tasks and goals to be accomplished. The goal of the internship is to prepare the transitioning service member for a full-time Programer role at JT4. Some examples of required Programmer duties and responsibilities are outlined below. Important: While the program is designed to prepare the service member for a full-time, civilian position, JT4 has no obligation to hire the intern on full-time or to continue the internship if it is determined that the intern does not meet expectations. About JT4: JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
Eligibility
The candidate must clear a JT4 Security pre-screen and background check prior to being offered full-time employment. Should have some familiarity with IT principles and concepts.
What the work involves
Job Summary -- Essential Functions/Duties Under immediate supervision, converts data from project specifications and statement of problem and procedures to create or modify computer programs requiring and applying basic knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems. Employee will be responsible for performing the following functions/duties: Prepares flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate a sequence of steps that a program must follow and to describe logical operations involved Converts project specifications into a sequence of detailed instructions and logical steps for coding into a language readable by computers, applying knowledge of computer programming techniques and computer languages Designs and writes basic to moderately complex computer programs Uses computer-aided software tools, such as flowchart design and code generation, in each stage of system development Operates computer system to check out programs, troubleshoot and test systems Monitors performance of programs after implementation Analyzes, reviews, and alters computer programs to increase operating efficiency or to adapt to new requirements Prepares documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections Assists in developing user manuals to describe installation and operating procedures Provides technical assistance to program users as required Provides occasional work direction to subordinate department employees Performs related work as required. Other Responsibilities Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job. Working Conditions Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Requirements -- Education, Technical, and Work Experience Associates degree in Computer Programming or a related field; or equivalent technical training from an accredited academic institution, completion of a recognized certification program, or equivalent experience and demonstrated skills, knowledge, and technical competence in computer programming. Must have demonstrated proficiency at a basic level with required computer languages and a basic understanding of computer systems including networks, servers, and personal computers. Job Summary -- Essential Functions/Duties. Evaluates system specifications, configures system, establishes standards, insures hardware / software compatibility and maintains workstations and Microsoft (MS) Windows Operating Systems for stable performance. Employee will be responsible for performing the following functions/duties: Performs the daily operation of MS Win server software to include system security, appropriate access, configuration and backing up the system. Specifies network requirements, monitors locate area network (LAN) performance, troubleshoots networking hardware and insures system is working properly according to specifications and parameters. Organizes and secures directory structure and assists / trains staff members in the use of department. Document Management (DM) System, associated databases and Configuration Management (CM)/ DM release procedures. Maintains and designs functional, visually esthetic web pages. Specifies hardware requirements and provides a Computer Authorization and Custodial Receipt Listing (CA/CRL) to track equipment configurations and identification logs. Serves as point of contact (POC) for problem reporting, incremental version updates and monitors yearly support contract. Makes recommendations for future hardware / software implementations and related process improvements, schedules, plans and performs system upgrades including the transition from design, test, production and documentation environments. Provides operational status as required. Uses established policies and procedures and subject matter knowledge to complete complex assignments requiring originality and ingenuity performed under minimum supervision with considerable latitude for independent contribution. Other Responsibilities. Will be asked to make functional the initiatives established by management and will coordinate with other organizations as affected by upgrades, capabilities, policy and procedures.
