Interns work in one of several tracks depending on their background and interests. The Manager Training Program places participants in fleet operations, where they learn to manage driver count fleets, handle load assignment, and work through Department of Transportation compliance and company regulations. The Maintenance Tech Program trains participants on diesel tractor preventative maintenance, component replacement, basic repairs, air brake systems, and Federal Highway Administration inspections, with a separate trailer repair path also available. The Finance and Administration Support Program focuses on accounts management, invoicing accuracy, and freight payment resolution. The Transportation Brokerage Program involves rate negotiation, carrier relationship management, and use of the company's Carrier360 platform to support freight movement.

All SkillBridge tracks run in-person and are structured to prepare participants for a specific role upon hire. Program lengths are generally 91 to 120 days. J.B. What the work involves

For our Finance & Administration Support Program participants will work under routine supervision. This position is responsible for handling moderately complex accounts, and managing the efficiency and accuracy of the application of all charges for invoicing purposes. Identify and resolve issues regarding freight payment with the customer, (e.g., collections, variances).

Summary

The internship will prepare you to be a Maintenance Technician upon hire and completion of the first 90 days of the Maintenance Technician Training Program. There is no guarantee of a permanent placement with J.B. Hunt, however we will only bring on an intern if there is a high probability of a permanent placement with a shop in your preferred location. If you go into the management track, you will be prepared for promotion to Maintenance Manager upon hire.

Eligibility

Preferred qualifications: Maintenance Tech - 1 year of experience in maintenance or repair and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. All ranks/rates considered. Maintenance Manager - bachelor’s degree with 1 year of relevant professional experience or Non-Commissioned Officer with at least 3 years of supervisory experience (minimum E-4).

What the work involves

Participants will train on preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and basic repairs for diesel tractor maintenance. This includes the fuel system, battery, engine, drive train, onboard computer, transmission, air brake systems and Federal Highway Administration inspections. Participants who go into trailer repair will gain a foundational knowledge of preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and basic repairs as it pertains trailer maintenance, air brake systems, and Federal Highway Administration inspections.
