About Intermountain Electronics
Intermountain Electronics (IE) is headquartered in Price, Utah, and has operated since 1985. The company designs, engineers, and manufactures integrated electrical and process systems for industrial sectors across North America, including mission critical, power and utilities, mining, and oil and gas. Its product work spans medium and low voltage power distribution, automation and control systems, modular buildings, process skids, switchgear, transformers, and related equipment.
The DoD SkillBridge program at Intermountain Electronics runs in-person at 19 locations across four states: Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, and Utah. Program durations run 61 to 90 days. Interns work in one of five tracks: Mechanical Assembly Technician, Metal Fabricator, Electrician in Training, Project Management, or Quality Specialist. Each track is conducted on the shop floor or in a project environment alongside experienced tradespeople, engineers, and supervisors.
Depending on the track selected, a SkillBridge intern at Intermountain Electronics may install cable trays, cut and bend buss bar, and assemble components on E-houses, switchgear, and control centers; fabricate and weld structural metal parts using brake presses, grinders, and cutting torches; wire and mount electrical components while reading blueprints and wiring diagrams; assist with planning and coordinating custom-engineered projects across engineering, production, and logistics teams; or inspect work in progress, maintain documentation, and conduct root cause analysis on nonconformances. All tracks are conducted in person within IE's manufacturing operations.
