What these labels mean

MOU active: An MOU is the agreement between an employer and the SkillBridge program. When it expires, the employer has to renew it before it can take new service members.
MOU expires soon: The agreement ends within 90 days. That is not a reason to rule a program out. It is a reason to ask the employer where the renewal stands.
MOU expired: The date on the government listing has passed. We still show the program, because hiding it would shrink this directory in a way we could not explain. Confirm status with the employer before you apply.
MOU date not stated: The government listing carries no expiration date for this organization.
Detailed listing: The employer filled in most of its record: length, delivery method, eligibility, and a description of the work.
Partial listing: Some of those fields are filled in and some are blank.
Sparse listing: Very little of the record is filled in. That is common, and it is not a judgment about the program or the employer. It does mean you will have to ask them more questions directly.

Summary

Apprentice/Intern will work directly with a mentor teacher who is professionally licensed in the field to learn more about the position. They will follow the training plan with the goal of them applying and being hired as a teacher in FCPS.

What the work involves

SkillBridge Teacher Apprentice/Intern The SkillBridge Teacher Apprentice will work alongside a licensed teacher to gain hands-on experience in a K–12 classroom setting. The apprentice will observe instruction, assist with classroom activities, support student learning, and gradually participate in lesson delivery under the supervision of a mentor teacher. Responsibilities Observe classroom instruction and school operations Assist with classroom routines and student support Participate in lesson planning and instructional activities Support small-group and whole-group instruction Demonstrate professionalism and effective communication Participate in feedback and reflection meetings with mentor teacher Qualifications Approved participant in the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program Interest in pursuing a career in education Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to work effectively with students and staff Supervision The apprentice will be supervised and trained by a licensed teacher and supported by school administration throughout the program. Learning Outcomes Upon completion of the program, the apprentice will: Gain foundational teaching experience Develop classroom management and instructional skills Understand lesson planning and student assessment practices Explore pathways toward teacher licensure in Maryland
