What these labels mean

MOU active: An MOU is the agreement between an employer and the SkillBridge program. When it expires, the employer has to renew it before it can take new service members.
MOU expires soon: The agreement ends within 90 days. That is not a reason to rule a program out. It is a reason to ask the employer where the renewal stands.
MOU expired: The date on the government listing has passed. We still show the program, because hiding it would shrink this directory in a way we could not explain. Confirm status with the employer before you apply.
MOU date not stated: The government listing carries no expiration date for this organization.
Detailed listing: The employer filled in most of its record: length, delivery method, eligibility, and a description of the work.
Partial listing: Some of those fields are filled in and some are blank.
Sparse listing: Very little of the record is filled in. That is common, and it is not a judgment about the program or the employer. It does mean you will have to ask them more questions directly.

Summary

The Airframe and Powerplant Aircraft Maintenance Technician must accurately repair and perform scheduled maintenance on all airplanes, as well as perform inspections as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Eligibility

Qualifications: Required education and experience High school diploma or equivalent required Active Duty Military personnel Minimum of 4 years of performing Aircraft Maintenance Approved by current Command for SkillBridge Actively pursuing A&P mechanic certification by the FAA required. Extensive knowledge of all aircraft mechanical systems functions and interactions. Preferred education and experience Minimum three years’ transport-category jet aircraft-related experience or have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform all job tasks preferred.A&P mechanic certification by the FAA required (Airframe only with timeline for obtaining Powerplant certification).Corridor experience preferred.

What the work involves

Project Management: accurately estimates work time and materials for assigned tasks. Fully analyzes all required blueprints, drawings, work orders and sketches to troubleshoot, repair and install desired product or part. Detects errors and corrects through proper departmental channels. Ensures proper working condition of mechanical systems before flight. Maintains records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and any reports related to parts or services. Inspects and examines engines, wings, propellers, tails, and other parts to identify cracks, corrosion, or other defects. Inspects hoses and lubricates joints; replaces any that show signs of needing repair. Consults maintenance manuals and specifications to identify correct operations and specifications for replacements or repairs. Installs new parts to replace or repair defective or recalled parts or to enhance the performance of the aircraft; performs these tasks efficiently and to specifications. Repairs sheet metal as needed. Ensures proper function of engines and operating systems via a variety of tests and tools. Identifies and resolves mechanical problems based on visual inspections or reports from pilot or crew. Performs other related duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities: Thorough understanding of aircraft parts, systems, and mechanics. Thorough understanding of tools and testing methods used to ensure proper functioning of an aircraft and its parts, systems, and mechanics. Summary

The Second in Command (SIC) reports administratively to the Chief Pilot. The SIC reports to the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) during flight. The SIC assists the PIC in preparing and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft in accordance with the Federal Aviation Regulations and company procedures.
