What these labels mean

MOU active: An MOU is the agreement between an employer and the SkillBridge program. When it expires, the employer has to renew it before it can take new service members.
MOU expires soon: The agreement ends within 90 days. That is not a reason to rule a program out. It is a reason to ask the employer where the renewal stands.
MOU expired: The date on the government listing has passed. We still show the program, because hiding it would shrink this directory in a way we could not explain. Confirm status with the employer before you apply.
MOU date not stated: The government listing carries no expiration date for this organization.
Detailed listing: The employer filled in most of its record: length, delivery method, eligibility, and a description of the work.
Partial listing: Some of those fields are filled in and some are blank.
Sparse listing: Very little of the record is filled in. That is common, and it is not a judgment about the program or the employer. It does mean you will have to ask them more questions directly.

Summary

A unique introduction to the world of 3rd party materials testing for construction. In this program you will learn the fundamentals of testing concrete and soils in the field on a jobsite as well as in the laboratory setting. You will also be introduced to the project administration side of consulting throughout the program.

Eligibility

Must be able to lift a minimum of 60 pounds. Must have valid driver's license and insurance. Willing to develop understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures. Willing to obtain knowledge of industry principles and applications. Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors.

What the work involves

Responsibilities Manage the administrative tasks associated with a project, including, but not limited to proposal and project registration, invoicing set-up, coordinate project resources, and more. Basic ability to use ECS systems in the coordination of project resources, management of project paperwork and documentation, and maintaining project schedules and budgets. Coordinate internal communications with staff members on a variety of projects, as requested. Actively mentor junior staff and support overall development of the team. Attend project meetings with senior staff and assist with resolutions to administrative problems. Communicate with client and external team members consistently. Assist in managing project budgets, preparing invoices, and collection efforts. Basic ability to prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines. Consult with your supervisor to help prioritize tasks on a daily basis. Good project and contract management skills. Basic ability to manage project budgets. Host or attend project discussions with clients, follow up on reports to determine if there are questions.

What the work involves

Field Activities: Conduct observation, testing, and sampling of materials, including soils, aggregates, and concrete on construction materials testing project sites; Execute tasks based on project requirements under the guidance of senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers. Testing Procedures: Conduct routine field and/or laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete using various methodologies and testing equipment following industry standards and compliance. Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspection; May assist with calculations, drafting, and other administrative duties as requested. Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers; Communicate changing site conditions and additional requested testing to supervisor; Attend project meetings as requested; Assist with organization of field equipment and notify supervisor of broken or missing equipment as needed. Training and Development: Receive training in ECS methodology for project observations, inspections, and testing; Document findings with precision in accordance with accepted engineering practices. Career Development As your experience grows, ECS will: Support you in enhancing your professional skills. Encourage participation in internal and external training programs and certification opportunities provided by organizations such as OSHA 10, ACI, ASNT, AWS, ICC, NICET, NRCA, RCI, various State DOTs, WACEL, and others, as appropriate.
