What these labels mean

MOU active: An MOU is the agreement between an employer and the SkillBridge program. When it expires, the employer has to renew it before it can take new service members.
MOU expires soon: The agreement ends within 90 days. That is not a reason to rule a program out. It is a reason to ask the employer where the renewal stands.
MOU expired: The date on the government listing has passed. We still show the program, because hiding it would shrink this directory in a way we could not explain. Confirm status with the employer before you apply.
MOU date not stated: The government listing carries no expiration date for this organization.
Detailed listing: The employer filled in most of its record: length, delivery method, eligibility, and a description of the work.
Partial listing: Some of those fields are filled in and some are blank.
Sparse listing: Very little of the record is filled in. That is common, and it is not a judgment about the program or the employer. It does mean you will have to ask them more questions directly.

Summary

Participate in a Department of Defense SkillBridge internship with the Cincinnati Police Department, gaining hands-on experience in law enforcement operations, community policing, and administrative support. Develop an understanding of criminal justice processes, public safety coordination, and interagency communication. Strengthen skills in situational awareness, professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to legal and ethical standards in a law enforcement environment.

Eligibility

All applicants must undergo fingerprinting through the Cincinnati Police Academy as part of the CJIS compliance requirements.

What the work involves

The SkillBridge Intern will support the Cincinnati Police Department through a structured training program designed to provide transitioning service members with exposure to civilian law enforcement operations. Under the guidance of sworn officers and department staff, the intern will observe and assist with daily policing activities, administrative functions, and community engagement initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience in public safety, criminal justice procedures, and interagency coordination. Key Responsibilities: • Assist with report preparation, records management, and general administrative duties • Support evidence handling procedures in accordance with department policy • Shadow investigations to gain insight into case development • Assist with community outreach programs and public safety education efforts • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to legal, ethical, and departmental standards • Collaborate with sworn and civilian personnel to support departmental operations
