MOU active: An MOU is the agreement between an employer and the SkillBridge program. When it expires, the employer has to renew it before it can take new service members.
MOU expires soon: The agreement ends within 90 days. That is not a reason to rule a program out. It is a reason to ask the employer where the renewal stands.
MOU expired: The date on the government listing has passed. We still show the program, because hiding it would shrink this directory in a way we could not explain. Confirm status with the employer before you apply.
MOU date not stated: The government listing carries no expiration date for this organization.

Cape Fear Community College is a community college headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina. Summary

Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) is designed to give students essential skills required for entry-level employment as law enforcement officers with state, county, or municipal governments, or with private enterprises. This program utilizes state commission-mandated topics and methods of instruction. General subjects include, but are not limited to, criminal investigation, juvenile laws, civil process, law enforcement driver training, ABC laws, motor vehicle laws, patrol techniques, court procedures, emergency responses, and ethics and community relations. Students must successfully complete and pass all units of study to receive a certificate. Upon successful passage of the certification examination mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the North Carolina Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission, students may seek job opportunities with state, county, and municipal governments in North Carolina. In addition, knowledge, skills, and abilities acquired in this course of study qualify individuals for job opportunities with private enterprises in such areas as industrial, retail, and private security.

Eligibility

Applicants for admission to the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Program must: Have graduated from High School, have an Adult High School Diploma, or have passed the GED with an equivalency certificate which meets the minimum requirements set by the State of North Carolina. Meet the minimum standards for employment as established by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and/or the NC Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission which include being: A citizen of the United States; At least 20 years of age (Applicant must be 20 years of age as of the first day of class or have written authorization from the Director of the Criminal Justice Standards Division if less than 20 years old.); Of good moral character; Examined and certified by a licensed physician or surgeon to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform the functions of a law enforcement officer. Have not ever committed or been convicted of any of the following: A felony; a crime for which the punishment could have been imprisonment for more than two years; or A crime or unlawful act for which the punishment could have been imprisonment for more than six months but less than two years and the crime or unlawful act occurred within the last five years; or Four or more crimes or unlawful acts described in b" above regardless of the date of occurrence; or Four or more crimes or unlawful acts for which the punishment could have been imprisonment for less than six months except if the last conviction date occurred more than two years prior to the date of enrollment; or A combination of four or more unlawful acts described in "b" or "d" above regardless of the date of conviction. In partnership with Yamaha Marine, the CFCC Engine Program offers the fundamental Introduction to Outboards Systems (ITOS), Midrange Marine Maintenance, and Inline Marine Maintenance courses. The Yamaha Intro to Outboard Systems course is the prerequisite required to pursue subsequent Yamaha engine modules. Registration in Yamaha Marine University is included in each course. INLINE MARINE MAINTENANCE: Yamaha’s most popular engine group occupies an increasingly dominant position on the water. Who Should Attend: All telecommunicators (sheriffs, police, emergency service centers, highway patrol, etc.) who are employed by or sponsored by an emergency service center. All persons who are employed as telecommunicators under the direct supervision of a sheriff's office are required by the North Carolina Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission to enroll and successfully complete the course. This requirement excludes all telecommunicators that are grandfathered. Summary

Truck Driver Training prepares individuals to drive tractor-trailer rigs. This program teaches proper driving procedures, safe driver responsibility, commercial motor vehicle laws and regulations, and the basic principles and practices for operating commercial vehicles. The coursework includes motor vehicle laws and regulations, map reading, vehicle maintenance, safety procedures, daily logs, defensive driving, freight handling, security, and fire protection. Highway driving, training range exercises, and classroom lectures are used to develop the student's knowledge and skills. Graduates of the curriculum are qualified to take the Commercial Driver's License Exam and gain employment with commercial trucking firms. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a valid Driver's License. Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to converse and follow directions of law enforcement.
