This role supports daily business operations by ensuring accurate order fulfillment, timely communication with customers and vendors, and efficient coordination of incoming and outgoing materials. Through structured training and real-world application, participants will learn how to operate within a high-performance distribution company that supports federal, utility, healthcare, and enterprise clients. The program emphasizes accountability, attention to detail, and operational excellence, preparing participants for careers in supply chain management, logistics, customer service, and operations.

Eligibility

Participant must be an active-duty service member approved by their Command to participate in the DoD SkillBridge Program Participant must be within 180 days of separation from active duty at the start of the program Ability to work in a combination office and warehouse environment, including standing, walking, lifting, and handling materials as part of daily operations Strong demonstrated reliability, accountability, and attention to detail consistent with military training and ATEK’s operational standards Ability to communicate effectively in a professional business environment (verbal and written)Basic proficiency with computers and willingness to learn business systems (ERP, inventory, and order management platforms)Must comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and workplace standards Alignment with ATEK Distribution’s core values of execution, responsiveness, and operational excellence Ability to pass any applicable background checks if required for customer site access (government or commercial)Willingness to learn supply chain, logistics, and customer service processes in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

What the work involves

Position Overview The Customer Service & Warehouse Operations Specialist supports daily operations at ATEK Distribution by coordinating order processing, inventory control, warehouse activities, and customer communication. This role provides hands-on experience in supply chain operations and distribution within a fast-paced, mission-critical environment supporting government, utility, healthcare, and enterprise customers. Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Order Management Process customer orders accurately and efficiently using internal systems Communicate order status, shipment updates, and issue resolution with customers Support inbound inquiries via email and phone in a professional and timely manner Coordinate with sales, vendors, and internal teams to ensure order accuracy and fulfillment Warehouse Operations Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders Pick, pack, and ship customer orders with a high level of accuracy Maintain organized warehouse layout and ensure materials are properly stored Assist with cycle counts and inventory management processes Inventory & Logistics Coordination Track inventory levels and report discrepancies or shortages Support procurement and replenishment activities Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, including carrier scheduling Ensure proper documentation for shipments, including packing slips and tracking Operational Excellence Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for order fulfillment and warehouse activities Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Identify process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy Support compliance with company policies and government contracting requirements Training & Development Areas (SkillBridge Focus)Supply chain fundamentals and distribution operations Inventory management systems and order lifecycle processes Customer service best practices in a B2B environment Warehouse operations, logistics coordination, and fulfillment workflows Exposure to government and commercial procurement processes Basic Qualifications Active-duty service member eligible for DoD SkillBridge Program Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to communicate clearly and professionally Willingness to learn and operate in a fast-paced environment Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and business systems)Preferred Skills Prior experience in logistics, supply chain, or warehouse operations (military or civilian)Familiarity with inventory systems or ERP platforms Ability to lift and move materials as needed (typical warehouse activity)Team-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic Work Environment Combination of office and warehouse setting Fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a focus on execution and accountability Hands-on role involving both administrative and physical tasks Career Outcomes This SkillBridge role prepares participants for civilian careers in: Supply Chain & Logistics Warehouse & Operations Management Customer Service & Account Support Procurement & Distribution
