Summary
The function of this position is to provide reliable, high-quality customer support through on-site inspecting, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, servicing, and/or replacing fire alarm equipment as well as conducting preventative maintenance services pertaining to many different manufacturers’ equipment.
What the work involves
Installation and programming of fire protection alarm systems for commercial applications (including piping, valves, and accessories). Service, Test, and Inspect Fire Alarm systems. Document time worked as well as all paperwork relating to assigned tasks in a timely manner. Must prepare accurate and timely documentation for work performed, complete monthly vehicle reports, and maintain truck inventory to ensure proper response to customers’ needs. Documentation of time and work will be done through our inspection and service platforms as well as 3rd party sites. On- Call service rotation is required. Build and maintain relationships with customers. Up-sell all AFPG services to include SHAD, sprinkler installation, and monitoring. Meet responsibilities to the customer, fellow team members and AFPG by arriving on the job on time, ready to work, every day. Maintain accountability and respect tools and vehicles provided by company.

The training will involve classroom, directed field, and a significant amount of self-directed training and research. The Fire Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice will be expected to learn how to read construction and fire sprinkler installation drawings, understand applicable codes, work with actual field conditions, and troubleshoot installation conflicts.

The AFPG SkillBridge program is designed to provide training, while promoting opportunities to gain industry experience with a high probability of securing a job offer prior to exiting the military. Selected participants will perform in highly skilled roles consisting of intensive on the job training, networking, and mentorship opportunities. AFPG is a signatory UA Local 669 union contractor.
